Kia ora Parents and Caregivers
Our tamariki need a quality education, and we want to give that to them. Unfortunately, the funding for our schools is not enough for us to give the time or staffing we would like to support all our students to thrive. We need to attract and retain educators by ensuring that teaching is a valued and attractive profession.
Principals and teachers in primary and secondary schools have considered at length offers from the government to settle our respective collective agreements. The offers did not meet our expectations, nor make sufficient steps towards the changes we need for our children to succeed. Consequently we voted to take industrial action on Thursday, 16 March; this decision was not taken lightly.
We have carefully considered the availability of non-union teaching staff and have decided that we are unable to provide normal instruction during the strike.
Therefore, Farm Cove Intermediate will be officially closed for instruction on Thursday, 16 March.
We will have some non-union staff on site to provide supervision of students if parents cannot provide adequate supervision.
Please inform us via the Google Link if you intend to send your child to school for supervision on Thursday ,16 March.
Thank you for your support.
