We offer an exciting range of educational experiences for all international students.  Along with the regular classroom lessons students may attend school camp, participate in school productions and dance troups, join sports teams, become a member of the orchestra or choir, link with lunch time clubs, be a kapa haka member and participate in school trips. Membership of some of these groups is dependent on the student’s arrival date and the length of their stay in our school. Some students are also invited to join our Mathematics and Literacy enrichment classes.

Our student Ambassadors are focussed on making life at our school easy for our international students.  They take a personal interest in their new class member by showing them around the school, introducing them to new friends and helping them to join in activities which are of interest.  Ambassadors also support the pastoral care programme within the school.

Most students begin their studies by attending daily English lessons in the ESOL room (see ESOL information) and they love attending these lessons where they receive special care and support.  Each student also belongs to a regular class where they are based for their lessons in other curriculum areas.

Here is an interview for Chinese (Cantonese) speakers to learn about Farm Cove Intermediate, how our students learn and the differences between New Zealand and Chinese education systems .  The people interviewed are Florence Chen and her son Phevos Shiu.  They arrived in New Zealand at the beginning of 2016 from Hong Kong.
